All the Shine
Starting April 6, for the next 30 days, I’m writing a brief essay every day and posting it to my Medium account in an effort to get off social media and focus on doing something good for me, both personally and professionally. To read my last essay, click here.
It’s crazy how much of a difference a weather change makes.
Growing up in the barren wasteland known as New England, I always saw myself as impervious to the cold. It’s 45 degrees out? That’s shorts weather right there! Yet after three-and-a-half years in Chicagoland — and a brutal winter stuck indoors, with streets full of snow — the actual spring weather in April has been life-changing.
Not only just going to the park yesterday, tossing the pigskin, and seeing smiling people around of all ages. Simply being able to walk far with good vibes, play some ping pong, cook. I got more done in four hours yesterday morning than I had in entire weeks during the winter.
Some things are out of your control, and while I believe in creating your own luck, there’s something to be said about laying in a grassy field and good weather cascading down.
